How the Michigan Hypnosis Conference Sparked My Award-Winning Podcast Journey

In this post, Amanda M. Dodd reflects on winning the Podcast of the Year 2024 award at the Michigan Hypnosis Conference for her podcast Trauma and Transcendence. She shares how the support and encouragement of the hypnosis community, especially from Dan Goyette and Heather Carpenter, inspired her to begin podcasting. Amanda recounts how winning a Rhodecaster Pro at the conference helped her take the leap, and she expresses gratitude for the wisdom, connections, and growth she experiences each year. Looking ahead, Amanda and Dan hope to present together at the 2025 Heartland Hypnosis Conference on "Where Science and Spirituality Meet." This post highlights the profound impact of the Michigan Hypnosis Conference on Amanda's personal and professional journey, while offering insight into her podcast's origin.

A Heartfelt Thank You: Podcast of the Year 2024 Award & The Power of Community

I am deeply honored to have been awarded Best Podcast of 2024 at this year’s Michigan Hypnosis Conference! This recognition for Trauma and Transcendence truly means the world to me. Yet, what makes this award even more meaningful is the incredible community behind it. Every time I attend this conference, I leave not only with business-enhancing raffle prizes (like the Rhodecaster Pro that kickstarted my podcast journey) but as a better presenter, hypnotist, colleague, and human being.

My podcast may never have existed without the support and encouragement I found here. It was because of the Michigan Hypnosis Conference that I took the leap into podcasting. When Dan Goyette and Heather Carpenter raffled off that Rhodecaster Pro, it felt like the universe was saying, “This is your moment.” And so I dove in.

But beyond the tools and prizes, the true gift has been the people. Dan Goyette has been a reliable asset, colleague, and knowledge base for me all year long, offering invaluable encouragement, even when I’ve been traveling and presenting at other conferences. His support has been instrumental in my growth as a presenter and hypnotist, and I’m excited to say that we’re planning to present together at the 2025 Heartland Hypnosis Conference, with a talk titled “Where Science and Spirituality Meet,” if our proposal is accepted.

As I shared in my latest article for HypnoWorld Magazine, "From Whispers to Waves: My Journey into Podcasting," my path into podcasting wasn’t meticulously planned; it was inspired, guided, and nurtured by this very community. You can read more about how Trauma and Transcendence came to be and the lessons I've learned along the way here: HypnoWorld Magazine Fall Issue.

Thank you, Michigan Hypnosis Conference, for being such a transformative experience year after year. Thank you to Dan, Heather, and everyone involved for organizing this amazing event. And a heartfelt thanks to my fellow hypnotists and colleagues for your continued support and friendship. I can’t wait to see what the future holds as we all continue to grow and evolve together.
